ABOUT THE EVENTS/

This one-day intensive workshop was created by two professionals with over 40 years of combined experience who are passionate about helping those struggling with mental health, alcohol, and drug addictions.


 

Participants in this one-day workshop will learn about:

 

  • How to recognize the signs of substance use and abuse. Current statistics state that 25% of us have a loved one or close friend who is struggling with one of the many “faces” of addiction (drug, alcohol, gaming, gambling etc.).

  • How Alcohol and drugs impacts ones mental and emotional capacity.

  • What you can do to help someone who is ready for help and what you can do for those who are not.

Participants will also have the opportunity to hear from a recovered addict who has “lived experience” of addiction problems and who will answer questions from both a professional and a client perspective.

   Dr. Dustin Nau

MR. Jocelyn Comeau

Jocelyn Comeau has established himself as an expert in the field of Chemical Dependency in Western Canada. He trained in Mandan N.D. U.S.A. in the early 1980’s and was instrumental in establishing professional licensing for Addiction Counsellors in Canada. He reached designations of I.C.A.D.C., I.C.C.S., R.S.W. He has provided personal counselling, training and lecturing in this field for 21 years.
He brings an abundance of personal and professional experience. He is a strong advocate of the “Disease concept of Alcoholism” as the main modality for addictions. Jocelyn Comeau is fully bilingual, 4 th generation of Aboriginal descent, long term recovery and has a strong spiritual foundation. He also brings understanding of the concept of “ Relapse & Substituting Addictions”.

Dr. Nau holds a strong belief in the power and value of every human spirit. He earned his Masters degree in Clinical Psychology and a Ph.D in Humanistic and Transpersonal Psychology. After a tour in the U.S Army, he began practicing Psychology in Calgary, AB. He is an accomplished researcher in the area of resiliency and spirituality. Dr. Nau lectures on the topics of depression, anger, how to increase your self confidence and addictions. He is well traveled, having toured 26 countries for both personal and professional purposes. He has provided psychological care in foreign countries such as China and Iraq and has also taught for 16 years as an adjunct professor.
